Our Company
George McLean Sr. started selling insurance to Orillians in 1923 after he purchased the Rose Insurance Agency. His son George Jr. (who joined the firm in 1948) and later his partner Marwood "Dick" Dickey, who joined in 1953 (his name was added to the company logo in 1955), developed a reputation for knowing their customer's needs and providing personal service.
Working upstairs over George McLean's office at 14 Peter St. S., in 1968, was Wayne McIntosh, from Sebright. George convinced Wayne to join his business in 1971. "Dick" Dickey retired in 1977 and George Jr. brought in Bill Hamilton in1976 and Bill Adams in 1979. Both had been working at major insurance companies. The trio of Bill, Bill and Wayne purchased the brokerage and George McLean retired in 1986.
Ten years later in January 1997 McLean & Dickey moved from the company's old offices into their present location on Laclie St. just south of Fittons Road and the Laclie St. Plaza
Since the move, the company has focussed on providing insurance services and consulting with customers about financial planning.
In the 76 years since George McLean purchased the Rose Insurance Agency, the McLean & Dickey staff has grown to 31 people, all dedicated to making the purchase of insurance and financial services, easy, pleasant and personal.
